Mass Effect Andromeda

E3 started out strong for its first day of conferences. EA held went first, coming out of the gate swinging. They gave us updates on the most popular upcoming games such as Titanfall, and Mass Effect Andromeda. The Bethesda followed and did not disappoint. They let us know more about the upcoming Dishonored 2, and even already released games such as Fallout 4, and DOOM. They also announced some highly anticipated games as well, so keep reading for those.

First, before the conference Telltale announced more details about their upcoming Batman series. They released screenshots, and even a good chunk of the cast including Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham. The game is set to hit home consoles this summer.

Now, EA’s conference. Bioware gave us our first looks at the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda. We’ll know more in the Fall, but for now we know the engine is switching over to Frostbyte and because of that, the game looks great.

Next EA gets charitable. Through a new charity initiative called ‘Play to Give’ gives gamers like us a chance to complete challenges in-game to donate money to one of the five following charitys: Code.org, HeForShe, Code2040, SpecialEffect, National Center For Women and Information Technology. This program will see a whopping total of $1M donated to charity. Good job EA!

EA gave us our first look at the multiplayer gameplay for Battlefield 1 through a one-hour livestream featuring 64 E3 attendees and many celebrities. The game will feature dynamic weather, along with destructable environments, a large variety of weapons and vehicles (like airships and horses). They claim that ‘No Battle Will Ever Be The Same Twice”. The game will launch October 21st.

EA brought out FIFA 17 with a surprising feature, a story mode. On-top of the engine changing to Frostbyte, EA is giving us a proper story mode in FIFA 17 under the name ‘The Journey’. More info can be found right here.

STAR WARS! EA and DICE are bringing us another Battlefront next year and it’s sure to improve on what the first lacked. As well, Battlefront 1 will be receiving more content updates from the Star Wars universe including characters such as Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, and maybe even Captain Phasma. We’ll also be getting a new game led by Amy Hennig (formerly of Naughty Dog) and Visceral  in 2018 (pictured) and a new third-person game from Respawn Entertainment.

Stand-by for Titanfall 2. Respawn Entertainment and EA have announced that Titanfall 2 will indeed be dropping this year on October 28th. On top of the fast paced multiplayer, we’ll be getting a single player multiplayer. Titanfall 2 will be coming to PC, Xbox One, and for the first time EVER PlayStation 4.

Now it’s Bethesda’s turn. Bethesda kicked off their conference by handing the microphone over to iD Software to announced the upcoming Quake Champions! The game is guaranteed to be fast, like DOOM fast. It will be presented with high-speed graphics at 120Hz with unlocked framerates. The game was in-part designed for ESL league play. More info will be released at QUAKECon later this year.

Arkane Studios is giving us a reboot of the old survival horror game PREY. Its 2032 and you’re stuck on a space station trying to fend off the alien threat. It will probably be released sometime next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. More info at QUAKECon as well.

My favorite game of 2012, Dishonored, is getting a sequel this year and oh wow it looks amazing. On-top of the gameplay trailer being released, we also got a lot of details pertaining to the gameplay in the land of Karnaca. There will be two different protagonists you can play as, Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin, each with their own set of skills offering very different gameplays. Dishonored 2 will feature some elements from the first game. Both Corvo, and Emily will be fully voiced this time around, allowing each character to react to different environments and situations. Also announced was the Dishonored 2 collectors edition which features a full scale replica of Corvo’s mask and Emily’s ring. For a limited time, pre-orders will receive a copy of Dishonored: Definitive Edition for the next gen consoles.

The rumors are true! We’re receiving a remastered edition of Elder Scrolls Skyrim! The game, titled Skyrim – Special Edition, will feature new and better visual effects. Also, in recent Bethesda fashion, Skyrim – Special Edition will support PC mods on the consoles. Skyrim – Special Edition launches October 28th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Todd Howard took to the stage to announce the last 3 DLC packs for Fallout 4. Contraptions Workshop will allow you to build various items such as Elevators, Armor Racks, and even Rube Goldberg machines. Contraptions Workshop is launching next week. Coming in July is Vault-Tec Workshops. Yep, we get to build vaults. The way they presented this made it sound like an in-game version of Fallout Shelter. Last but no least, Nuka World. This DLC will be Far Harbor-tier as far as story elements and size. Nuka World will feature a dystopian amusement park over run by raiders and will take place on a totally new part of the map.

Some of the smaller announcements made were that Bethesda is working on VR. They’ve already confirmed that DOOM and Fallout 4 will be released in VR, the latter being released in 2017 on the HTC Vive platform.

Fallout Shelter is getting a huge update including the ability to send Dwellers on quests, new characters and enemies, and even more new content. Also announced was that Fallout Shelter is coming to the PC.

Finally, DOOM. iD Software has announced that they are honoring old school shareware and will make the first level of their new DOOM game available to everyone for FREE starting now for the next week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Thats all! Here comes another day of conferences that should give us even more to quench our gaming thirsts. Check out our full articles for complete information on all touched upon topics here.
