Could you imagine going on a bus without your phone? It’d be pretty boring, especially if you’re on it for the long haul. Thanks to the emergence of the all-powerful mobile phone – entertainment is never far away. Whether it’s a book, film or game – you’re never far away from having fun.
In terms of gaming, there are a lot of options. With the emergence of the Nintendo Switch – the portable market is about to become swamped with high-tech gaming systems. We’ve got the Vita, the 3DS, mobile phones, the remote play capability of the PS4 and now the incoming Nintendo Switch. The choice is yours – if you fancy quick bursts of gameplay – you may be more inclined to using an iPhone or Android device where you can bash away on Candy Crush or Clash of Clans.
If you fancy an upgrade on casual gaming, the Vita and 3DS can offer you so much – from the near console quality Killzone on the PS Vita to the newest iteration of the Pokemon franchise on the 3DS – there are plenty of options if you need to upgrade from the casual games of mobile phones.
Finally, the Nintendo Switch offers a console-quality portable experience with blockbuster games like Skyrim set for release. It’s not out until March 3rd, so it’s still a bit of an unknown quantity. You won’t be able to beat the PS4 though – you can take it everywhere with you through the remote play setting meaning you’ll be able to burst into a session of FIFA no matter your location. If you’re at home and someone is hogging the TV, you can play any game in the cinema mode of the new PlayStation VR, as well.
What about other forms of entertainment? Well, Spotify is a great option, even if you don’t opt for the premium version. You can access curated playlists and listen to your favourite artists on the go. Google Play and Deezer offer two alternatives to Spotify.
For films and TV, look no further than Showbox – who have an impressive back catalog of films and TV for you to browse and watch at any time. Click here to go to their site.
You don’t need a Kindle to get the most out of books – the kindle app is available on both iOS and Android and allows you to get the best books known to man. Pair it with Goodreads to find some, well, good reads!
On top of all of this, make sure your phone or device is well charged. Games will sap the battery leaving you no time at all to use the apps! Carry a power bank with you to boost your phone’s battery so you’re never caught short without battery. Also – you need to be able to keep in contact with people! Remember what your phone is used for before using all the battery, you battery hog, you!
