In a financial release, Nintendo has announced that their newest console to be the successor of the Wii U, will arrive in March 2017 globally.
On the newest console, Nintendo comments “For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed ‘NX’ with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.”
The Nintendo NX is set to return Nintendo to a somewhat level playing ground in the console business as the Nintendo Wii U was not the success Nintendo had hoped for. Since it’s launch in 2012, third party publishers have slowly pulled away from the console in favour of the PlayStation and Xbox brands to provide gamers a gaming experience. Eventually, the well of third party games dried up for the Wii U and many ports or exclusive games were cancelled because the system did not meet the requirements of these publishers.
With E3 a few months away, will Nintendo unveil their newest system or keep that for a separate press conference?
Hopefully we’ll learn more soon.
